My dad makes a brilliant fish pie, in fact it is one of his signature dishes. When I first moved out of home it was one of the first recipes that I made sure I asked for, to bring a bit of home to where I was.
Always a good recipe to have for a family dinner at the weekend and simple to put together you can now bring a little bit of my home comfort food into your house too!
1 can of tuna
400ml white sauce (recipe here)
Broccoli/Green beans to serve
Putting it all Together
Peel and chop your potatoes before putting in a pan of water to boil. Cook until soft before adding a knob of butter, a splash of milk and salt to season. Mash until you have a smooth consistency and set aside.
Place your two eggs in a pan to hard boil, around 10 minutes.
Whilst the eggs are cooking make up your white sauce, using this recipe, before adding the tuna and stirring through. Add the fish pie mix and prawns, making sure they are coated in the white sauce mixture. Cook over a low heat whilst you remove the eggs and peel the shell. Roughly chop the eggs before adding to the mix.
Tip the mixture into a dish, before adding the mashed potato and smoothing over until it reaches the edges. Add a pattern or run a fork through for a textured top.
Pop in the oven for 45minutes at 180c or until the potato on top is golden brown. Whilst the fish pie is in the over cook your accompanying greens and serve together once both are cooked.
